Challenge
Google for Singapore 2026 needed to do something rare: make a high-stakes policy and technology summit feel genuinely atmospheric. The audience — senior Key Opinion Formers, government figures, and industry leaders — were accustomed to polished corporate environments.
The challenge was to design a space that transcended the expected conference aesthetic and created an environment so considered, so layered, and so distinctly Singaporean that the ambience itself became part of the message.
Strategy
The design concept — The Collective Weave of a Nation — drove every spatial and material decision. Rather than building a neutral exhibition environment and placing technology within it, the design team inverted the brief: they recreated familiar Singaporean environments and embedded Google's AI innovations inside them.
The guiding aesthetic principle was warmth through familiarity. Orchid arrangements, natural timber finishes, warm lighting, and locally resonant environmental references — a reimagined FairPrice grocery space, a Majulah AI installation — created a sensory landscape that felt rooted in Singaporean identity rather than imported from a global brand playbook.
Every material, texture, and lighting choice was made in service of a single emotional goal: make every attendee feel that this future belongs to Singapore.
Execution
The venue was transformed into a flowing, curved multi-zone environment with distinct spatial identities connected by a continuous design language. Natural materials — warm timber cladding, organic forms, lush floral installations featuring Singapore's national orchid — softened the technology-forward content.
Lighting was designed zone by zone: warmer tones in experiential areas, cooler focused illumination at interactive product stations — guiding attention and setting emotional register simultaneously.
The FairPrice installation recreated the warmth of a neighbourhood grocery, reimagined with AI-powered personalisation embedded in its shelving. The Majulah AI zone used architectural scale and bold typographic installations to evoke national pride. Innovative installations featuring AR glasses experiences and personalised digital outputs added sensory dimensionality throughout — the curved layout drawing attendees naturally from zone to zone without prescribed direction.
Results
Audience feedback consistently highlighted the environment itself as a standout element — with attendees remarking on how naturally the technology felt embedded within familiar Singaporean contexts. The design successfully dissolved the boundary between exhibition and experience.
For a KOF audience accustomed to world-class environments, the ambience of Google for Singapore 2026 set a new benchmark.
