Challenge
Think Apps @ The Google Apps Summit 2025 set an audacious objective: simulate the entire journey of an app — from idea to global-scale business — in a single day. The challenge was making this tangible for a developer audience while seamlessly weaving Google's AI product suite into every step.
Beyond keynotes and case studies, the experience needed a digital backbone that connected every physical touchpoint into one coherent, measurable, and rewarding journey — without a single moment of friction.
Strategy
Digital integration was the structural foundation, not a feature layer. A personalised RFID-enabled badge system served as each attendee's unique identity across a six-step gamified roadmap: Registration → App Creation → Beta Test Your App → Build Video Ad → Growing Your Apps with Google → Reward.
Every interaction — demo, quiz, photo op — was automatically scored and logged in real time. A custom RSVP platform enabled attendees to pre-book 1:1 sessions with Google experts, connecting digital planning to physical participation before the event even began.
On the floor, a large-format live leaderboard canvas displayed real-time rankings, making individual digital scores publicly visible and socially competitive. The entire journey culminated in a fully automated reward system — a row of prize vending machines dispensing tiered swag based on accumulated scores.
Execution
Each of the six zones deployed distinct digital technologies:
- App Creation — Gemini for idea generation, Nano Banana for logo creation, Firebase Studio for coding and deployment.
- Build Video Ad — Gemini for concept and scripting, Google AI Flow for video generation — producing a real, shareable promotional asset per attendee.
- Beta Test & Growing Your Apps — six interactive product demos, each badge-enabled and scored in real time.
- Create an Ad station — AI-generated video ads produced using Veo on Flow, giving every attendee a personalised digital output to take away.
The RFID infrastructure processed all interactions simultaneously across the full multi-zone floor, feeding the live leaderboard and vending machine redemption system in real time — a seamless, end-to-end digital-physical ecosystem.
Results
The RFID-powered digital architecture delivered unprecedented visibility into attendee behaviour across all six zones, confirming deep, multi-step journey completion at scale. The custom booking platform drove high 1:1 session utilisation, connecting digital intent to physical engagement.
AI-generated video ads gave every attendee a personalised, shareable digital output — extending the event's reach beyond the venue. The experience successfully demonstrated Google's AI ecosystem live, in action, on its own stage.
